Police, District Administration retrieve state land worth ₹18 lakhs from drug peddler in Kulgam

Kulgam, May 13: In continuation of the ongoing drive against drug trafficking and illegal encroachments under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a Police party from Police Station Qaimoh, alongwith officials of the District Administration, retrieved 06 Marlas of State land worth approximately ₹18 lakhs under Survey No. 303 situated at village Wanpora, District Kulgam.

The land was found under illegal encroachment by a drug peddler namely Mohd. Ramzan Sheikh son of Juma Sheikh resident of Wanpora, who is involved in FIR No. 69/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act and FIR No. 20/2023 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Qaimoh.

The retrieved land has been taken into possession by the concerned authorities under the relevant provisions of the J&K Land Revenue Act and other applicable laws. Necessary notices have also been affixed on the spot and further legal proceedings, as warranted under law, shall follow.

J&K Police shall continue its intensified action against drug peddlers and other anti-social elements, particularly those attempting to illegally occupy State land or derive proceeds from unlawful activities. J&K Police appealed to the public to cooperate with Police by sharing credible information regarding drug trafficking and other criminal activities for ensuring a safer and drug-free society.
