Srinagar : Police on Saturday destroyed illegally cultivated opium poppy and registered four cases in Anantnag and Budgam.
Officials said that in Anantnag, poppy cultivation was destroyed at Dooru and Aishmuqam after joint teams of police, magistrates, and agriculture officials conducted raids. Cases under FIRs under Sections 8/18 NDPS Act were registered.
In Budgam, similar illegal cultivation was destroyed at Dangerpora and Banderpora Khansahib with joint teams from police, revenue, and excise departments. Cases under FIRs under NDPS Act were registered. In its statement Police reiterated zero tolerance towards narcotics cultivation and trafficking.
