Police Carry out Single Largest Narcotics Property Attachment in Anantnag; Assets Worth ₹6.5 Crore Attached

Anantnag, May 8: In continuation of its sustained and aggressive crackdown against the narcotics network, Police in Anantnag has initiated attachment/seizure proceedings under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act against Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Gul Mohammad Mir and his family members, residents of Doonipora Sangam, after an enquiry conducted under Chapter VA of the NDPS Act revealed that the family had amassed huge movable and immovable assets disproportionate to their known lawful sources of income.

The enquiry further established that these properties were jointly held by the family members and are suspected to have been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trade.

During the course of enquiry, the following criminal antecedents of the family surfaced; FIR No. 213/2024 under sections 8/15 & 29 NDPS Act of Police Station Bijbehara involving recovery of 58.90 Kgs of Poppy Straw against Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Gul Mohammad Mir resident of Doonipora.

FIR No. 191/2020 under section 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Bijbehara involving recovery of 500 grams of Charas against Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Gul Mohammad Mir resident of Doonipora.

FIR No. 232/2011 under section 8/20 NDPS Act involving recovery of 1.100 Kgs of Charas against Gul Mohammad Mir son of Mohammad Sadiq Mir resident of Doonipora, father of the accused.

The properties identified and attached/seized during the proceedings include Double-storeyed residential houses situated at Doonipora, Sangam, a newly constructed residential house situated at Doonipora, Sangam, commercial building “Muskan Restaurant” situated at Sangam, approximately 211 Marlas of land situated at Sangam/Naina area and Hyundai Creta vehicle bearing registration No. JK03H-5758.

The total estimated value of the attached/seized properties is approximately ₹6.5 Crores.

This action reflects J&K Police’s firm resolve to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug traffickers and to ensure that proceeds generated through illegal narcotics trade are identified, attached, and brought under the ambit of law. The campaign against drug abuse and trafficking shall continue with full determination.
