Bandipora : Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib chaired a Mega Block Diwas programme at High School Ketson in Aloosa block, where she reviewed developmental activities and addressed a range of public grievances raised by local residents.

The programme witnessed participation from officers of various departments, local residents, and students, with cultural performances presented on the occasion.

During the interaction session, residents raised several key issues, including ration cards, road connectivity, LPG supply, transport facilities, tourism development, Lolab-Bandipora road, playground facilities, water scarcity, and other public concerns.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said the area has seen considerable improvement in basic infrastructure, noting that the road up to Ketson has already been macadamised, mobile connectivity is available, Anganwadi Centres are functioning effectively, and the local school has satisfactory infrastructure.

She assured the public that all remaining issues and deficiencies identified during the programme would be taken up on priority.

Regarding the school approach road, the concerned Executive Engineer informed that the road has already been included under the Cities and Towns Plan. The CAPD department assured that deserving families would be provided ration cards once the quota is received.

The ARTO informed that sumo services are currently operating on the route, while efforts are being made to provide mini-bus services for the area.

Health officials stated that Health and Wellness Centres at Ketson and Binlipora are functioning properly. On tourism-related demands, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged local residents to submit proposals for tourism promotion and homestay facilities.

Responding to demands for sports infrastructure, she directed the concerned Patwari to conduct a survey for identification of suitable land for a playground and assured that additional sports kits would be provided to local youth. She also directed the BDO and Tehsildar concerned to work on a proposal for construction of a community hall in the area.

Taking serious note of reports regarding poppy cultivation, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned SHO to submit a detailed report within 48 hours.

The event was attended by senior district and sectoral officers, including ACP, CMO, CEO, ARTO, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, R&B and PMGSY, Tehsildar and BDO Aloosa, LDM Bandipora, besides officers from Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Agriculture, Labour, Sheep Husbandry, and Food departments.
