New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday welcomed the inauguration of the ‘Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata’ in Leh, describing it as a moment of “immense delight” and highlighting its cultural and spiritual significance for the region.
In a post on X, Modi said the exposition, inaugurated on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, showcases revered relics linked to the Piprahwa Stupa, which were excavated in the late nineteenth century. “These revered relics… embody the enduring teachings of Lord Buddha,” he said.
The Prime Minister noted that the exposition will continue in Leh until May 14 and will subsequently travel to Zanskar, offering people across Ladakh an opportunity to pay their respects. “It offers a valuable opportunity for people from across Ladakh to pay their respects,” he added.
Emphasising the broader impact of the initiative, Modi said the exposition is expected to boost spiritual and cultural tourism in the union Territory. Ladakh, known for its deep-rooted Buddhist heritage, has been a key destination for pilgrims and tourists alike, and such events are seen as efforts to further promote the region’s cultural identity and attract visitors.
