Shopian, Apr 30: Joint search operations to trace a missing 5-year-old boy were resumed for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday near Dubjan Bridge in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Officials said teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Shopian and Pulwama, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are carrying out intensive searches to locate and retrieve the body of Mohammad Hunzala, son of Nigar Ahmad Turrey, a resident of Tiken area of Pulwama.
The minor had drowned in a fast-flowing nallah near Dubjan Bridge a few days ago, prompting a massive rescue operation in the area.
They said local residents and volunteers are also actively assisting SDRF and NDRF teams in the ongoing search efforts.
Despite continuous operations over the past several days, the boy is yet to be traced, officials said, adding that the search operation is in progress.
