Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police of Jammu Division to review the security scenario, progress under the NashaMukt J&K Abhiyaan, and district-wise preparations for forthcoming pilgrimages.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, senior police officers, divisional and district officials, besides heads of key departments.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the prevailing law and order situation and security arrangements in their respective districts. They also presented updates on the 100-day campaign under the NashaMukt J&K Abhiyaan and preparedness for major pilgrimages including Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Shri Kausar Nag Yatra and Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor directed officials to ensure seamless coordination among police, civil administration and security forces to maintain peace and strengthen the security grid. He emphasized regular conduct of Block Diwas and Thana Diwas for prompt resolution of public grievances.
Issuing a stern warning against the drug menace, Sinha called for outcome-based efforts involving all sections of society. He ordered strict action against drug smugglers and peddlers and stressed the need to identify narco-corridors in Jammu Division to dismantle hotspots and trafficking networks.
He also directed officials to conduct a region-wise study on substance abuse trends and prepare a Vulnerability Index using World Health Organization standards.
Reviewing arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and other pilgrimages, the Lieutenant Governor instructed district administrations to undertake a comprehensive review of facilities, logistics and security measures.
He further directed Deputy Commissioners to accelerate implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme to improve rural health, infrastructure, economic growth and social upliftment. He also called for 100 percent screening for non-communicable diseases.
Reiterating zero tolerance towards terrorism, Sinha ordered the strictest action against individuals and overground workers found supporting or sheltering terrorists. He said all agencies must maintain unwavering coordination to create an impenetrable shield against emerging threats.
