KU organises free medical camp for respiratory diseases, mental health under NashaMukt J&K Abhiyaan

Srinagar : The University of Kashmir’s Health Centre, in collaboration with the J&K Association of Chest Physicians and Paras Health Srinagar, organized a free medical camp focused on respiratory diseases and mental health.  The initiative was part of the NashaMukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan and took place at the Main Campus under the Department of Students Welfare. The camp aimed to enhance health awareness and provide essential medical services, including respiratory care, mental health counseling, and basic diagnostic facilities.

During her visit, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized the importance of universities in promoting preventive healthcare and mental well-being, advocating for increased awareness and access to medical guidance for both students and the broader community. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal highlighted the significance of collaborative health initiatives in educational settings, which foster awareness, early diagnosis, and informed lifestyle choices among youth. Dr. Khalid Nazir, Coordinator of the Health Centre, noted that the camp was designed to encourage timely medical consultations and improve access to healthcare services, particularly concerning mental health and respiratory issues. The event featured participation from several medical experts, including Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Naveed Nazir, Dr. Naeem Firdous, Dr. Arshid Ahmad Sofi, and Madeeha Mukhtar, who provided specialized care and consultations. The camp offered various diagnostic services, such as Pulmonary Function Tests, blood sugar testing, and mental health sessions. Attendees, including students, scholars, and university staff, expressed satisfaction with the services provided. The event was effectively managed by Dr. Surayya Jan and Dr. Azhar Ahad, Medical Officers at the Health Centre. Overall, the camp successfully engaged a large number of participants and contributed to the promotion of health awareness within the university community.
