Pulwama, Apr 28 : Pulwama Police on Tuesday issued an advisory cautioning the public against the circulation of unverified and misleading content on social media regarding an alleged sexual assault incident in an educational institution.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that the matter is under thorough examination and all necessary verifications are being carried out as per established procedures.
“The public is strictly advised to refrain from sharing, forwarding or engaging with unsubstantiated claims and rumours, as such irresponsible dissemination can mislead people and create panic, besides disturbing public order,” the spokesperson said.
Police reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against any individual found involved in the creation or propagation of false and misleading information.
Citizens have been urged to act responsibly and rely only on official and verified sources for authentic updates, the Spokesperson added.
