Srinagar, Apr 29: Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.5 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler.

An official spokesperson said that Police Station Rainawari, acting under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, attached a single-storey residential house along with land measuring 11 marlas belonging to accused Bilal Ahmad Patoo, son of Ali Mohammad Patoo, a resident of Sultan Mohalla, Saidakadal in Srinagar.

He said the accused is involved in FIR No. 39/2022 registered under Sections 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act.

“The property has been identified as illegally acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking,” the spokesperson said.

He added that the action reflects the firm resolve of Srinagar Police to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers and curb the menace of narcotics in the region.

Police have urged citizens to extend cooperation by sharing information related to drug trafficking, the spokesperson added.
