Pulwama, Apr 28: Continuing its crackdown on unlawful trade practices, Pulwama Police on Tuesday has taken decisive action against illegal LPG decanting in the district.

A Police spokesperson said,  Acting on reliable inputs, Police Station Kakapora received information that an LPG distributor, identified as Firdous Ahmad Dar, son of Ab Ahad Dar, a resident of Hajibal, was illegally transferring LPG from domestic cylinders into commercial ones to deceive consumers and earn undue profits.

Officials said the activity was being carried out in violation of established norms and posed serious risks to public safety.

Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 34/26 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kakapora and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, a police team seized a total of 80 gas cylinders, including 35 domestic and 45 commercial cylinders, in connection with the illegal operation.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the full scope of the racket and to take strict legal action against all those involved.

Pulwama Police reiterated its commitment to enforcing the law and safeguarding public interests.
