Participants pledge to promote drug free society

Jammu : To combat drug abuse and mobilize the community towards a healthier future, the District Social Welfare Department (DSWD) Jammu Monday organised a vibrant awareness rally under the flagship ‘NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (NMBA).

The massive awareness event was conducted under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Preeti Sharma.

Addressing the gathering, the DSWO emphasized the department’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the society. She highlighted the ongoing efforts of the department in creating a robust and accessible support system focused on both the prevention of drug abuse and the rehabilitation and recovery of affected individuals.

A significant highlight of the awareness program was the administration of a collective pledge against drug abuse. The participants solemnly vowed to stay away from all forms of intoxicants and pledged to actively protect their peers, families, and surroundings from the scourge of addiction, thereby reinforcing the government’s vision of a healthy, prosperous, and drug-free society.

The rally witnessed overwhelming participation and enthusiasm from various sections of the community. Among those who actively participated in the rally were members of the Golden Day Care Centre, officials and staff from all sub-offices of the Social Welfare Department, and prominent members of the civil society.

The participants marched through the area holding placards and raising slogans to disseminate the message of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
