Officials advise people to store adequate water till repair work of Sindh Power Canal Is completed
Srinagar: Many parts of Srinagar city are set to face a 36-hour disruption in potable water supply from April 25 to April 26, following urgent repair works on the Sindh Power Canal (Phase II) by CMD Ganderbal, the Water Works Division Srinagar said in a public notice.
The notice issued by office of the Executive Engineer Water Works Division Srinagar reads the shutdown will affect raw water supply to the Alusteng and Rangil treatment plants, impacting several major residential and adjoining areas across the city.
The authorities have also advised residents to store adequate water in advance and assured that control room facilities will remain operational round the clock for assistance.
“The general public is hereby informed that, due to urgent repair works of the Sindh Power Canal (Phase IInd) scheduled to be carried out by CMD Ganderbal on 25th & 26th April 2026, the raw water supply to the Water Treatment Plants Alusteng and Rangil are likely to be affected,” it reads.
“Consequently, the potable water supply in major parts of Srinagar City and adjoining areas may experience disruption for approximately 36 hours, commencing from 6:00 A.M on Saturday (25.04.2026) to 6:00 P.M on Sunday (26.04.2026). The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” it reads.
The order reads, the affected areas include: Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbugh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouchpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh I Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohori Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Parts of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowpora, Nawab Bazar, Ganpatyar, Habba Kadal, Baghwanpora, Basant Bagh, Chota Bazar, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahrajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Firdous Abad, Parts of Batmaloo, Qamarwari and adjacent areas.
“General Public is hereby notified through the medium of this notice to store sufficient supply of water to meet the demands. For any complaints/grievances regarding scarcity / shortage of water supply, general public are requested to contact the PHE Provincial Control Room which remains functional round the clock for the service of the general public.”
