Rajouri : The Proctorial Board of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University conducted an awareness programme aimed at promoting a drug-free campus and society, aligning with the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan and NashaMukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
The event attracted participation from postgraduate and undergraduate students across various schools, including Biosciences and Biotechnology, Social Sciences, and Education, Humanities and Languages. Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal delivered a message encouraging students to avoid substance abuse, embrace positive lifestyles, and become ambassadors for a drug-free movement. He underscored the role of universities as centers for awareness and responsible leadership, commending the Proctorial Board for their initiative. Dr. Danish Iqbal Raina was invited to deliver a lecture that focused on the social, psychological, and health ramifications of substance abuse. He emphasized the long-term effects of addiction and the necessity for awareness, peer support, and informed decision-making. The session was interactive, fostering active engagement from the students. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Mamta, Coordinator of Environmental Sciences, who stressed the importance of collective responsibility in combating drug abuse and promoting a healthy academic environment.
