DYSS Ganderbal holds Girls’ Zonal Badminton Championship, promotes Drug-Free Lifestyle

GANDERBAL, APRIL 23: Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Ganderbal organised a Zonal-Level Badminton Championship for girls under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, encouraging young athletes to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.

The championship was held across the zones of Kangan, Ganderbal, Tulmullah, and Hariganwan, covering three age categories viz. Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19. A total of 203 participants took part in the championship, reflecting strong enthusiasm and growing interest in sports among young girls in the district.

The matches were conducted in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere, with participants demonstrating skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the event.

District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal, appreciated the active participation of the players and commended their spirit of fair play. He stressed the importance of sports in shaping character and keeping youth engaged in positive activities.

He also highlighted that such events under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan play a vital role in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and motivating young people to lead a healthy, drug-free life.

The championship concluded successfully, with officials reiterating their commitment to promoting sports culture and youth development across the district.
