New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted civil servants across the country on the occasion of Civil Services Day, urging them to reaffirm their commitment to good governance and nation building.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister highlighted the pivotal role played by civil servants at every level of administration. “Greetings to all civil servants on Civil Services Day. This is an occasion to further strengthen the resolve to work towards good governance and nation building,” Modi said.
Emphasising the wide-ranging impact of their work, he noted that from grassroots implementation to high-level policy-making, civil servants influence the lives of millions. “From the grassroots to policy-making, the efforts of civil servants touch countless lives and contribute to India’s progress,” he added.
The Prime Minister also called on the bureaucracy to continue striving for excellence and innovation while maintaining compassion in public service. “May our civil servants continue to serve with excellence, compassion and innovation, upholding the highest standards of duty,” he said.
Civil Services Day is observed annually on April 21 to recognise the contributions of India’s civil servants and to reaffirm their commitment to serving citizens. The day also commemorates the historic address by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1947, in which he described civil servants as the “steel frame” of the nation, underscoring their crucial role in maintaining unity and integrity.
The observance typically includes events and awards recognising exemplary work by officers in various sectors, reflecting the government’s focus on efficiency, transparency and citizen-centric governance.
