New Delhi| April 17: The Haj pilgrimage from India for 2026 will commence on April 18, with the first batch of pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia from multiple embarkation points, officials said on Thursday.
Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju said arrangements have been strengthened this year to ensure a smooth, safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience for all 1.75 lakh pilgrims.
Key upgrades include digital facilitation through the Haj Suvidha App, smart wristbands for tracking pilgrims, enhanced insurance cover, improved accommodation, and high-speed train connectivity between Makkah and Madinah for around 60,000 pilgrims.
Officials said 17 embarkation points have been designated across India, including Srinagar, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, to streamline operations and ensure hassle-free departures. PIB
