Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been opened for all commercial vessels for the duration of the ongoing ceasefire in Lebanon.
In a post on X, Araghchi said that “in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire,” adding that ships must follow the coordinated route already specified by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organisation.
The announcement comes amid a temporary truce in Lebanon and signals a limited easing of tensions in the region, with the strategically vital Strait—through which a significant share of global oil shipments passes—now accessible for maritime trade.
