Continuing its drive against illegal activities, Police on Friday acted on specific and reliable information regarding illegal timber smuggling in the Sangerwani area.
A Police spokesperson said, Acting promptly, a police party conducted a raid at Inderwali, where three individuals namely Zaffar Hussain Khatana S/o Bashir Ahmad Khatana, Mukhtar Ahmad Bhomla S/o Mohd Hussain Bhomla, and Imtiyaz Ahmad Poswal S/o Mohd Amin Poswal, all residents of Sangerwani, had allegedly kept wooden timber beams on the roadside and were attempting to transport the same illegally.
During the operation, two accused persons namely Zaffar Hussain Khatana and Mukhtar Ahmad Bhomla were apprehended on the spot. However, the third accused Imtiyaz Ahmad Poswal managed to flee from the spot. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused. Police seized 06 wooden timber beams from the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 60/2026 has been registered under relevant sections of law U/S 303(ii) BNS and Section 26 of the Forest Act at Police Station Rajpora and further investigation has been taken up.
Pulwama Police reiterates its commitment to act firmly against illegal activities and urges the general public to cooperate by sharing information about such unlawful practices.
