Distt Admin, Security Agencies escalate fight against Drugs in Bandipora

Bandipora :In the backdrop of the ongoing 100-day intensive campaign under NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Tuesday along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, chaired a meeting with officers from various security agencies and ex-servicemen to strengthen coordinated efforts against drug abuse across the district.

The meeting witnessed participation from the CRPF, BSF, and Army, along with ex-servicemen of Bandipora through the Zila Sainik Welfare Directorate and retired police personnel of the district.

A detailed presentation was made outlining the aims, objectives, targets, and overall approach of the campaign, along with the roles of various stakeholders and the implementation strategy.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for a convergence-based and community-driven approach, highlighting that the discipline, experience, and social influence of ex-servicemen and security personnel make them key stakeholders in this intensified phase of the campaign.

She informed that the administration has launched a structured 100-day action plan, and stressed that the involvement of veterans and security agencies as “Change Agents” will be crucial in guiding youth, spreading awareness, and supporting community-level interventions to curb substance abuse.

The DC also outlined the campaign roadmap and called for active participation, sustained vigilance, and grassroots engagement to ensure meaningful outcomes.

On the enforcement front, SSP Bandipora, briefed about the measures being undertaken to curb drug trafficking and emphasized the importance of close coordination between police, security forces, and the veteran community to dismantle local drug networks and monitor vulnerable areas. He assured full support from the police to all collaborative initiatives under the campaign.

Officers from various security forces reiterated their commitment to support the campaign through awareness drives, community outreach, and logistical assistance.

The ex-servicemen present in the meeting expressed their firm resolve to contribute actively by engaging with youth, assisting in awareness generation, and supporting enforcement agencies.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to make Bandipora a drug-free district through coordinated action, public participation, and strengthened enforcement under the ongoing 100-day NMBA campaign.

Among others the meeting was also attended by ADC, ZaffarHusson Shawl; ACR, Shabir Ahmad Wani; Dy DEO, Hilal Ahmad; DSWO, Bashir Ahmad and DIO, Aadil Manzoor Wani.
