Army, District admin celebrate Rajouri Day with patriotic fervour

RAJOURI; APRIL 13: The Indian Army; in collaboration with the District Administration Rajouri; today celebrated Rajouri Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit here on ALG Grounds.

The event witnessed overwhelming participation from students and local residents; besides civil and army officials.

The programme commenced with the arrival of dignitaries followed by a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Gujjar Mandi Chowk to pay homage to the martyrs. Tricolour balloons were released to mark the occasion and symbolize unity and national pride.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Ace of Spades Division; Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherji and Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma were present on the occasion and participated in the key events of the celebration.

The main event featured a well-curated sequence of activities; beginning with a religious prayer and a captivating performance by the Police Pipe Band. The Army Dog Unit presented an impressive salutation display; drawing applause from the audience.

A vibrant cultural programme showcasing the rich traditions of Rajouri was presented by students including a thematic skit highlighting the cultural heritage of the region. The audience was further enthralled by a Malkhamb performance by Army personnel.

A significant highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Rajouri Library Club; aimed at promoting reading habits and constructive engagement among youth.

A short video under “Operation SINDOOR” was also screened during the programme.

Stalls were also installed by different departments including Agriculture; Horticulture and Animal Husbandry (Veterinary) along with Self Help Groups; showcasing various schemes; local products and livelihood initiatives.

During the felicitation ceremony; talented individuals were honoured under initiatives such as “Rajouri’s Got Talent” and “Shan-e-Pir Panjal;” recognizing excellence across different fields.

As part of the welfare measures; electric wheelchairs and sewing machines were distributed among beneficiaries; reflecting the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

Addressing the gathering; Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherji lauded the strong bond between the civil administration and the armed forces and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the public. He emphasized the importance of unity; youth engagement and continued efforts towards peace and development in the region.

The event concluded with a group photograph session followed by tea and interaction among the participants.

The programme successfully highlighted the essence of Rajouri Day; reinforcing a shared commitment towards peace; development and national integrity.
