Srinagar, Apr 13: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Monday has suspended a senior lecturer posted in north Kashmir’s Sopore and ordered an inquiry into his conduct, while police have also registered a case following allegations by a girl student.
According to an official order, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Sr Lecturer Urdu at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sopore in Baramulla district, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.
The order states that the suspended lecturer has been attached to BHSS Badugam, Gurez in Bandipora district during the suspension period.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Iftikhar Talib said that the teacher has been booked and an investigation has been set into motion following allegations made by a girl student.
Meanwhile, the Directorate has appointed Joint Director (North) as inquiry officer to probe the matter and submit a detailed report within 15 days.
Further action shall follow based on the outcome of the inquiry, officials said.
