Medhar :Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Saturday chaired a comprehensive meeting with the sub-divisional administration and representatives of the Transport Union to finalise a structured and sustainable traffic management plan for Mendhar.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the need to address long-standing challenges related to vehicular congestion, enhancing commuter convenience, parking and public transport in the town. The meeting also held deliberations on development of designated parking facilities to address the persistent issue of roadside congestion.

Emphasising on the importance of planned urban mobility, Javed Rana said that the government is committed to implement a comprehensive and effective traffic management strategy in Mendhar.

He directed the concerned departments to expedite all procedural formalities and ensure that work on these vital infrastructure projects is initiated at the earliest.

He noted that the proposed measures would not only ensure smoother vehicular movement but also help decongest key commercial zones and improve accessibility for pedestrians and commuters alike.

Highlighting on the broader impact, Javed Rana remarked that improved traffic regulation and infrastructure would provide a significant boost to local businesses, facilitate better public transport operations, and contribute to the town’s orderly and sustainable development.

He further called for close coordination among all stakeholders, including civil administration, transport authorities, and local representatives, to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the proposed initiatives in the larger public interest.

During the meeting, officials informed that suitable land parcels have already been identified for the establishment of new bus stands on both the upstream and downstream sides of Mendhar town.

The participants also emphasised on the need for a scientific, well-regulated traffic system, incorporating proper zoning, regulated movement, and efficient use of available road space.

Among others, the meeting was attended by SDM Mendhar, ARTO Poonch, senior officers of the Sub-Divisional Administration, and representatives of the Transport Union.
