Srinagar : Police on Friday said that in a major crackdown on drug trafficking it has arrested 14 drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of narcotics in multiple operations across Kashmir, adding therein that a medical shop in Kulgam has also been sealed for violating norms related to the sale of Schedule H medicines.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that in Anantnag, police recovered 3.99 kg of charas from the residence of Fayaz Ahmad Dar in Sangam, leading to the arrest of him and his son. In separate operations, four more individuals were arrested with charas and other contraband substances at various checkpoints.
In Kulgam, multiple arrests led to the recovery of charas, heroin, and cash. Investigations further exposed a supply chain, resulting in additional recoveries of over 1.2 kg of charas from linked locations.
In Pulwama, police seized 6 kg of semi-crushed cannabis powder from a suspect in Rahmoo, while in Awantipora, two individuals were arrested with heroin-like substances.
In Sopore, a suspect was held with Codeine Phosphate bottles and heroin-like substance during a patrol.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing to trace the source and wider network.
Meanwhile, during a joint inspection drive in Qaimoh, several medical shops were found violating mandatory regulations. RH Medical Store was sealed on the spot for failing to maintain proper records for Schedule H medicines.
Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urged public cooperation to eliminate the menace.
