Fencing, upgradation works of major bridges nearing completion to ensure public safety: DC Srinagar

Labroo conducts site review of fencing and allied upgradation works

Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, AkshayLabroo on Friday conducted a detailed site inspection of ongoing fencing along the sides of historic Old City Bridges and allied upgradation works in the Shahr-e-Khaas areas of the district, underscoring the administration’s firm commitment to strengthening pedestrian safety and urban infrastructure.

During the visit, the Deputy Commisisoner was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R&B Shabir Ahmad, Executive Engineer R&B, ArifHazari, Tehsildar South, Sajad Rasool Shah and other concerned Officers.

On the occasion, the DC reviewed progress fencing along the sides of the bridges of Old Zainakadal, Aalikadal and New ZainaKadal over the river Jhelum where ongoing fencing works are at an advanced stage and nearing completion. The works have been carried out to enhance pedestrian safety and prevent accidents in high-density areas.

While assessing the works, the DC directed the executing agency to maintain strict adherence to quality standards and timelines, emphasizing precision, durability and coordinated execution. He directed for completing the works within a weeks time.

The DC also reviewed the status of ongoing road repair and upgradation works across stretches in the area including Bulbul Lanker. He laid emphasis on expediting progress while ensuring minimal inconvenience and disruption to public movement in the area.

Reaffirming that pedestrian safety remains a top priority, the DC stated that all major works are being carried out in a synchronized and well-coordinated manner and will be completed at the earliest.
