Moscow, April 8 (Sputnik/UNI) Israel supports US President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday.
“Israel supports President Trump’s decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel and countries in the region,” the office said in a statement on X.
According to the statement, Israel also supports US measures aimed at ending the “nuclear, missile and terror threat” to Israel, the US, and Arab countries.
“The United States has told Israel that it is committed to achieving these goals, shares by the US, Israel and Israel’s regional allies, in the upcoming negotiations,” the office noted.
However, the two-week ceasefire does not include Lebanon, the statement read.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he had agreed to a two-week bilateral ceasefire with Iran. The US leader noted that Iran had also agreed to guarantee the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Later, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the ceasefire was effective immediately, including in Lebanon.
At the same time, the Iranian Supreme National Security Council said that Tehran would begin talks with Washington on Friday in Islamabad.
