In a proactive move to curb misuse of pharmaceutical drugs and ensure strict adherence to regulatory norms, Police in Pulwama carried out a comprehensive inspection drive across various medical shops and pharmacies in the district.
The exercise was conducted in close coordination with officials from the Drug & Food Control Department as part of ongoing efforts under anti-drug initiatives. During the inspections, joint teams thoroughly examined essential records including sale/purchase registers, valid licenses, and availability/functionality of CCTV systems.
Special focus was laid on identifying any unauthorized sale of prescription medicines and ensuring that no controlled substances are dispensed without proper documentation. Sensitive locations, particularly areas in proximity to educational institutions, were given added attention to prevent potential misuse among the youth.
J&K Police emphasized that such drives will continue in the future as part of sustained efforts to combat drug abuse. All stakeholders, especially pharmacy owners, have been advised to strictly comply with established guidelines and extend full cooperation to the authorities in maintaining public safety and well-being.
