Hurriyat (M) appeals UN to make serious efforts for Kashmir resolution

Srinagar/April,1: Commenting on the statement of the spokesman for UN Secretary General António Guterres that the UN Secretary General is concerned over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and is keeping watch over the events in the territory, the Hurriyat Conference (M) has said whereas the statement of the UN official is appreciating, however, the situation in Kashmir needs much beyond the statements.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Hurriyat (M) has appealed the UN Secretary General to come forward proactively and make serious efforts for the resolution of the long pending dispute of Jammu and Kashmir which is the only way to save the people of Kashmir from the present plight and bring peace and stability in the region.
Hurriyat Conference (M) said that Kashmir has been the oldest dispute on UN agenda, adding, the UN has passed several resolutions on its floor wherein it has pledged to solve the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.
Stressing that due to the indifference of the world body towards this issue, the Kashmiris were suffering, the statement said that Indian has unleashed state sponsored terror on Kashmiris to muzzle their voice and make them give up their political struggle. As such, it was the responsibility of the UN to take steps which would aid in resolving this dispute.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of Hurriyat (M) has strongly condemned the government for conducting large scale crackdown on youth across Kashmir especially in old city and Maisuma during the nocturnal raids. He said the government was deliberately pushing youth and resistance leadership towards wall so as to aid the conducting of sham polls, adding, the oppression and large scale arrests would not deter the people to retreat from the demand of right to self -determination.
Spokesman denounced the house arrest of Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and arrest and house arrest of resistance leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Muhamamd Yaseen Malik, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Advocate Shahidul Islam and Hurriyat activists Farooq Ahmad Saudagar, Abdul Rashid Tanki and many others across the valley. He said the arrest and house arrest of resistance leadership and youth, however, was not going to weaken their resolve towards freedom struggle.
The spokesman has also condemned the blast in Para Chinar Pakistan, adding, such cowardly acts were being carried out by the anti-Pakistan elements to destablise the Pakistan. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured in the blast.
