The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the martyrdom of Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri following injuries he sustained in the US-Israeli aggression.
According to a Press TV, the IRGC in a statement said Tangsiri was wounded after operations that “inflicted heavy damage on enemy facilities and infrastructure and led to the downing of an American fighter jet.”
According to the IRGC, he was organizing and reinforcing defensive positions on islands and coastal areas at the time he received the fatal injuries.
The statement portrays Tangsiri as a prominent figure in Iran’s military history and asserts that his martyrdom will not hinder ongoing operations, praising the naval branch of the IRGC for maintaining “firm command and decisive management” in recent days.
The IRGC recounts past confrontations with foreign forces, referring to battles during the Iran‑Iraq war, the seizure of foreign naval personnel, and clashes in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that each IRGC fighter is “a Tangsiri in spirit.”
