Speaker for free & fair probe, strict punishment in Dr Farooq Abdullah assassination attempt

Jammu ::J&K Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, following a discussion on the assassination attempt on former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, described him as an internationally respected figure who dedicated his work to J&K’s welfare, development and communal harmony.

He remembered that Dr Abdullah took the reins of J&K in very difficult times and worked tirelessly to navigate the then State from hardships. He also mentioned that Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha called Dr Abdullah to know his well being and assured for in depth investigation into the incident.

The Speaker expressed belief that fair probe will be conducted and the culprit be given strict punishment so that no one dares to repeat such cowardly act in future.

The members, who earlier participated in the discussion and condemned the assassination attempt on former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, included Ministers SakeenaItoo and Satish Sharma,  Salman Sagar, Mir Saifullah, Sham Lal Sharma, Waheedur Rehman Para, Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Arjun Singh Raju, Rajeev Jasrotia, Choudhary Mohammad Akram, Sajad Shaheen, Tanveer Sadiq, Javid Riyaz Bedar, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani, Surjeet Singh Slathia, Altaf Ahmad Wani (Kaloo), Showkat Hussain Ganie, Sajad Gani Lone, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Dr. Bashir Ahmad shah Veeri, AjazAhamd Jan, Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi), Dr. Rameshwar Singh and Mubarik Gul.
