*Sham Lal terms incident as possible security lapse, Jasrotia terms attempt to disturb communal harmony*

Jammu, Mar 28 : Legislators across party lines condemned the attack on National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members also strongly voicing concern in the Assembly.

During the discussion, BJP MLAs described Dr. Abdullah as a tall and universally respected leader, terming the incident as a possible security lapse.

Speaking in the House as per media, BJP MLA Sham Lal Sharma said: “Farooq Abdullah is a leader of stature who needs no certification. This incident raises serious questions about security preparedness. It cannot be treated as a minor issue. The government’s primary responsibility is to safeguard lives. When a leader of such stature is targeted, it demands a serious and transparent probe.”

Sharma pointed to possible security lapse and called for a detailed investigation into how the attack occurred and why the visit was handled casually.

Another BJP legislator, Rajiv Jasrotia, termed the incident an attempt to disturb communal harmony.

Similarly, MLA Pawan Gupta demanded firm action, urging the Chair to issue clear directions for a comprehensive investigation to fix responsibility and ensure such incidents are not repeated.
