Jammu :The District Administration Ramban has launched a major crackdown on illegal transportation and black marketing of LPG cylinders in the district.
In a major action, the Police have seized 124 LPG cylinders during routine Nakka checking at different locations in the district.
A load carrier bearing registration number JK03Q-7873, coming from Nowgam was stopped for inspection. During checking, 24 LPG cylinders were found loaded inside the vehicle. The driver and two co-drivers were questioned, however, they failed to produce any valid documents or provide a satisfactory explanation.
Similarly, a TATA 407 load carrier bearing registration number JK02DD-0915, arriving from the Kashmir side, was intercepted during routine Nakka checking at Jawahar Tunnel. Upon checking, 100 LPG cylinders were recovered from the vehicle and the driver failed to produce any valid documents or justification for transporting the cylinders.
The accused were booked under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
