G’bal : Police on Thursday said that it has seized five vehicles in Ganderbal and Pulwama.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that in Ganderbal three tippers were seized for illegal extraction of minor minerals in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal, Police Station Kheerbawani and Police Station Lar. These vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. The vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
Meanwhile in Pulwama, Police seized two tractors without registration number plates found engaged in unauthorized extraction of minerals at Romshi Nallah, Rahmoo. In this regard, a case under FIR No. 39/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, and further investigation has been taken up.
In its statement Police also reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and appealed people to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources, Warning therein that strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
