Jammu: Minister for Rural Development, Law & Justice, Abdul Haq Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that the Government is providing ration to over 58.59 lakh souls in the State, which include 2075170 in Kashmir region and 3784020 in Jammu region.

Replying to a question of Abdul Majid Padder on behalf of Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCSCA), he also informed that   78678 souls of Noorabad constituency are being provided ration against the ration cards (with family strength of 01-06) under the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES).

Similarly, 16947 families of Noorabad are being provided Kerosene oil against the ration cards on subsidized rates.

The Minister further informed that the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has scrapped the subsidy on PDS sugar from April, 2017.

He said however the State Government decided to provide PDS sugar to PHH (BPL) category. He said there was no proposal to provide subsidized sugar to the NPHH category.

M Y Tarigami, Raja Manzoor, Mian Altaf, Advocate B A Dar, Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid and Pawan Gupta raised   supplementary questions and complained about shortage of ration, PDS sugar and K-Oil in their respective constituencies. They demanded for providing sugar to the APL families too as per the past practice.
