Ramban :To mark World TB Day, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan Tuesday launched the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a 100-day campaign aimed at screening vulnerable populations for Tuberculosis (TB) across the district.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated a portable handheld X-ray machine provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support at a cost of ₹25 lakh. The device is expected to significantly strengthen TB screening efforts in remote and difficult areas by enabling quick and accessible diagnostic services.

The Deputy Commissioner further flagged off a mobile van equipped with the portable X-ray machine, along with essential equipment and medicines, to conduct screening in rural and far-flung areas under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The initiative aligns with the national mission to eliminate TB by 2026, guided by the theme “Jan- Jan Ka RakheDyaan TB- Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Protecting Every Person, TB-Free India).

The campaign focuses on early detection of TB cases through X-ray screening and NAAT testing, particularly among vulnerable sections, to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of community participation, early detection, and awareness in achieving the goal of a TB-free India. He directed the Health Department and allied stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure effective implementation of the campaign and outreach to every vulnerable individual in the district.

The event was attended by ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kamal Je Zadu, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Ramban, Dr.Sudershan Singh Katoch, BMOs, and other concerned officers, health officials, and medical staff, who reiterated their commitment to intensify TB detection and treatment efforts during the campaign.

Meanwhile, a pledge was also administered to the participants as part of the nationwide mission to eliminate Tuberculosis and strengthen public health outreach at the grassroots level.
