World TB Day 2026: TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Phase–II launched in Udhampur

Jammu :World TB Day 2026 was Tuesday observed with great enthusiasm and commitment at the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), Udhampur, under the inspiring theme “Yes, We Can End TB – Led by Bharat, Powered by People of Bharat.” The occasion also marked the formal launch of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Phase–II, reinforcing the nation’s unwavering pledge to eliminate tuberculosis.

The programme witnessed active participation from paramedical staff, ASHAs, and other frontline health workers, whose tireless efforts form the backbone of tuberculosis control initiatives.

The event was graced by the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Udhampur Minga Sherpa as the chief guest. He was warmly received by Dr. Anil Manhas, Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur, along with the Dr. Anil Saloch, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Udhampur.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC delivered an insightful awareness lecture, highlighting the causes, prevention, and treatment of tuberculosis. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and community participation in achieving the goal of a TB-free India.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion also shared their perspectives and encouraged sustained public involvement in TB elimination efforts.

A key highlight of the programme was the flagging off of an Awareness Delivery Vehicle by the chief guest. The vehicle traversed key areas of the city, broadcasting a TB awareness song and spreading vital information to the masses.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the District Tuberculosis Officer, who expressed gratitude to all participants and media personnel for their valuable support. Refreshments were distributed among ASHAs, paramedical staff and other health workers as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service.
