Pattan, Mar 21:Hundreds of children and families were left disappointed after the historic Pandav Park and nearby Parihaspora archaeological site were found closed on the occasion of Eid in Pattan area of Baramulla district.
Locals said the sites usually remain open and attract large numbers of visitors, especially during Eid, when families gather for outings and celebrations. However, this time many people had to return after finding the gates locked.
Visitors, especially children, expressed sadness as they had come with expectations of enjoying the festive day at the popular spots.
Staff present at the sites reportedly said they were instructed to keep the premises closed, though no official reason was given.
Residents termed the move unusual, saying it is perhaps the first time in many years that both Pandav Park and Parihaspora remained closed on Eid.
The public has urged the authorities to explain the reason behind the closure and ensure such incidents are avoided in the future.
