Sopore :With an aim to promote the well-being and social security of senior citizens, the Tehsil Social Welfare Office SoporeWednesday organized an awareness programme under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens (NAPSrC) at Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore.
The programme focused on creating awareness among the community, particularly students, about the importance of caring for and supporting elderly persons, along with informing them about various government schemes and legal provisions available for their protection.
Addressing the gathering, Tehsildar Sopore, Sheikh Tariq highlighted the significance of ensuring dignity, safety, and respect for senior citizens. He remarked that elderly persons are a valuable asset to society and their experience and wisdom serve as a guiding force for younger generations.
Experts and resource persons from different departments spoke on issues related to elderly care, health, legal rights, and the need for stronger family and community support systems.
The event witnessed active participation from students, teachers, senior citizens, and local residents, who were encouraged to contribute towards building a more compassionate and inclusive society.
