US intel finds no evidence on claims of fractures in Iranian command structure

Washington/Tehran, March 17 (UNI) US intelligence agencies have found no evidence of fractures within Iran’s leadership since the start of the war, according to a report by The Washington Post citing officials familiar with the assessments.
The briefings, provided to President Donald Trump, indicate that Iran’s political system remains intact, with no clear signs of internal splits or high-level defections despite sustained US-Israeli strikes.
Officials said Trump had received “very sobering” intelligence even before authorising the campaign, including warnings that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps could mobilise and escalate its response.
The findings suggest the conflict has not destabilised Iran’s leadership as some in Washington had anticipated.
At the same time, US allies in the Gulf are said to be increasingly uneasy as they face Iranian retaliation. One senior Arab official told the newspaper: “They started this war for Israel and then left us to face the attacks by ourselves.”
Meanwhile, NBC News reported that senior US military officials have presented Trump with possible pathways to end the conflict, though daily war planning seems to be going haywire as things are becoming more and more complicated, as the Iranian resistance has proven far stronger than expected.
Making conventional military options limited, Washington has now reportedly been given little recourse but to continue the war as it aims to chart a path for ending the war without involving boots on the ground.
Trump’s advisors, who advocate for an end to the conflict, are concerned about the global economic instability the conflict has provoked, the report read, adding that the duration of the war “could change every day.”
