Srinagar : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) organised a comprehensive Health Camp at its Head Office, Karan Nagar, in collaboration with Government Medical College Srinagar (GMC) and Associated Hospitals, Srinagar.

The initiative was held under the theme “Naari Leads Swachhata”, highlighting the vital role of women in advancing sanitation, public health, and community well-being.

The health camp was organised on the directions of Faz Lal Haseeb, Commissioner SMC, as part of the Corporation’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the health and welfare of its workforce, particularly women who play a pivotal role in maintaining sanitation and cleanliness across the city.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Fauzia Habib, Health Officer, SMC, who meticulously coordinated the initiative and ensured its successful execution in collaboration with the medical team from GMC and Associated Hospitals, Srinagar.

A team of specialist doctors and trained paramedical staff from GMC and Associated Hospitals carried out medical consultations, health screenings, and general health assessments for the female sanitation workers as well as the female staff of the SMC Central Office. The camp focused on preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and raising awareness on hygiene and well-being, particularly for women engaged in sanitation and public service.

Dr. Rehana Kausar, Consultant, GMC Srinagar, was also present during the programme and coordinated the participation of the specialist medical team, ensuring that comprehensive medical care and professional guidance were provided throughout the camp.

The initiative reflects SMC’s sustained efforts to promote women’s health, dignity, and empowerment while recognising the invaluable contribution of women in leading sanitation and cleanliness initiatives under the spirit of “Naari Leads Swachhata.” Through such programmes, the Corporation continues to reaffirm its commitment to building a healthier workforce and fostering a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable urban environment.
