Srinagar: Stressing zero tolerance for terrorism, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma on Friday chaired a high-level security meeting at Police Headquarters Jammu to review the situation and strengthen the anti-terror grid across Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the meeting brought together representatives of the Army, police, and intelligence agencies to discuss security challenges and enhance coordination among different forces operating in the region.
The deliberations focused on real-time intelligence fusion and ensuring seamless integration among agencies with the aim of enabling swift operational responses and maintaining a mission-ready posture across Jammu and Kashmir.
Participants reviewed the existing security architecture and assessed measures to further strengthen the intelligence grid and operational preparedness in sensitive areas.
The agencies also discussed strategies to synchronise the anti-terror roadmap and enhance coordination to effectively tackle evolving security threats.
Officials said the security establishment reiterated its commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and stressed the need for sustained synergy among all stakeholders to maintain peace and stability in the Union Territory.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing counter-terror operations and the preparedness of security forces in dealing with emerging challenges. Authorities emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring, information sharing, and joint operational planning to ensure effective response mechanisms.
Earlier in the day, Lt Gen Sharma visited Basantgarh to review the prevailing security situation and assess ongoing counter-terror operations in the area, which has witnessed heightened security activity in recent months.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed by field commanders on the coordinated intelligence grid, operational deployment, and enhanced security measures being implemented to track and neutralise militant threats in the region.
Officials also presented deliberations on surveillance systems and area domination operations being carried out by security forces.
Sources in Army said that focused deliberations were held on reinforcing the security architecture in close coordination with all stakeholders, including the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies.
The discussions also centred on strengthening area surveillance, improving operational readiness and ensuring rapid response capabilities in difficult terrain.
Lt Gen Sharma also interacted with troops deployed in the forward areas and appreciated their dedication and operational professionalism. He commended the soldiers for their commitment, discipline and steadfast resolve in maintaining security and ensuring a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The Army Commander emphasised the importance of maintaining high operational standards, constant vigilance and close coordination among security agencies to counter terror threats effectively. He also encouraged the troops to continue their efforts with determination and professionalism.
Officials said the visit and the coordination meeting formed part of the ongoing review mechanism aimed at strengthening the security grid and maintaining peace and stability across Jammu and Kashmir.
