Kishtwar :Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma Wednesday  chaired a meeting to review the progress of District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) in the district.

The DC directed the Jal Shakti Department to plug leakages in the existing water supply infrastructure and ensure an uninterrupted supply of safe and quality drinking water to the public.

Emphasizing the judicious use of water resources, the DC stressed the need to generate public awareness and adopt effective mechanisms for efficient water conservation.

The Forest Department was directed to submit pending cases under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) for necessary approvals to facilitate the implementation of water supply schemes.

The DC further directed the concerned departments to strengthen water quality monitoring and ensure regular testing of drinking water.

“Women shall be trained in water quality testing during the upcoming Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada to facilitate community participation in ensuring safe drinking water at the grassroots level,” the DDC directed.

The ACD was directed to focus on the preservation and protection of drinking water sources in close coordination with the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department and other stakeholders.

The DC also reviewed the status of Har Ghar Jal Certification, progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme and the activation of the citizen feedback module on the Meri Panchayat App, besides other measures aimed at improving rural drinking water supply across the district.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Vinod Kumar Behnal; ACD Manoj Kumar; ACP Neeraj Sharma; DFO Vishal Chaudhary, AEEs, JEs from the Jal Shakti Department and other concerned staff.
