Int. Women’s Day 2026 celebrated with enthusiasm at Kishtwar

Kishtwar : The District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Kishtwar celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, New DC Office Kishtwar Saturday.

The event, organized under the theme “Give to Gain” for the year 2026, was presided over by the Member Legislative Assembly Kishtwar Shagun Parihar as the chief guest, while ADDC Vinod Kumar Behnal graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

The District Social Welfare Officer Tariq Parveaz Qazi welcomed the guests and participants and reiterated the department’s commitment to working for the welfare, safety and empowerment of women in the district.

On the occasion, the MLA inspected various stalls set up by the Social Welfare Department, Handicrafts Department and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), showcasing local produce and spreading awareness about various Government welfare schemes aimed at empowering women and promoting their socio-economic development.

Resource persons from DLSA, including Anjali Gulati and Afsha Malik along with Dr. Daisy Parihar shared valuable insights on legal awareness, women’s rights and health-related issues.

The celebration featured a variety of cultural and awareness activities, including songs, speeches, dance performances and a demonstration by a sign language interpreter, highlighting inclusivity and the importance of communication accessibility.

Women entrepreneurs from Self Help Groups (SHGs) also shared their inspiring success stories, motivating other women to pursue entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

During the event, the MLA also handed over registration certificates to newly registered cooperative societies, marking an important step towards strengthening grassroots economic initiatives.

Resource persons, participants and women achievers from different fields were felicitated during the programme in recognition of their contributions and accomplishments.

The event was attended by AD Handicrafts Pardeep Shan, BDO Hqrs. Chandan Manhas, CDPO Rahida Lone, TSWO Rajesh Sharma, Principal GHSS Girls besides other officers, Women SHGs, ASHA Workers, anganwadi workers, students and others.
