Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Nalin Prabhat on Saturday conducted an extensive review of the security landscape, counter-terrorism (CT) operations and law & order situation in Pulwama, Shopian and Police District Awantipora during a series of high-level meetings with senior police and security officials in South Kashmir.
At Pulwama, the DGP chaired a detailed security review meeting at the District Police Office. The meeting was attended by Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, DIG South Kashmir Range Javid Iqbal Matoo, SSP Pulwama Tanushree, and other supervisory officers.
During the meeting, the DGP assessed the prevailing security situation in the district with particular focus on the progress of counter-terror operations, including both kinetic and non-kinetic measures. He also reviewed overall law & order management and security preparedness in the district.
While interacting with the officers, the DGP underscored the importance of maintaining sustained pressure on anti-national elements and directed officers to remain vigilant and ensure strict action against individuals involved in unlawful activities.
He emphasized strengthening intelligence gathering, enhancing coordination among field units and adopting proactive policing measures to effectively deal with emerging security challenges.
Later, the DGP visited Shopian, where he chaired another high-level meeting to review the overall security scenario of the district. The meeting was attended by Special DG Kashmir Javid Gillani, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, DIG South Kashmir Javid Iqbal Matoo, along with senior officers of police and security forces.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the prevailing security situation, counter-terrorism measures and operational preparedness in the district. The DGP directed officers to intensify counter-terror operations and maintain sustained action against terrorist elements and their support networks.
Special emphasis was laid on ensuring adequate security arrangements for minority communities and maintaining security at tourist destinations in the district. The DGP stressed close coordination among all security agencies to effectively counter security challenges and maintain a strong security grid.
The DGP also visited Police District Awantipora, where he chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the District Police Office Awantipora. The meeting was attended by senior officers including SSP Awantipora, Additional SP Awantipora, all SDPOs and DySPs of the Special Operations Group (SOG).
During the meeting, the DGP reviewed the overall security scenario with special focus on ongoing counter-terror operations, including both kinetic and non-kinetic measures. He also reviewed efforts being made to curb drug abuse and other criminal activities in the district.
The DGP directed officers to further intensify action against anti-national elements, drug peddlers and criminal networks. He stressed the need for intelligence-based operations, strong inter-agency coordination and proactive policing to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Appreciating the dedication and efforts of officers and personnel deployed in the districts, the DGP encouraged all ranks to continue working with professionalism, vigilance and commitment to ensure peace, public safety and stability in South Kashmir.
