Kulgam, Feb 28: The district administration Kulgam on Saturday carried out a major anti-encroachment-cum-demolition drive along National Highway 444 at Pahloo area of Kulgam.

The drive was conducted under the directions of Collector NH444 (ADC) Kulgam and was spearheaded by the Tehsildar Pahloo. The operation was carried out with active assistance from SHO Devsar and officials of the Revenue Department, Police Department, and other concerned line departments.

During the course of the drive, authorities removed several illegal encroachments raised along the highway stretch. A residential structure on the roadside was also demolished as part of the enforcement action.

Officials stated that the encroachments were obstructing public land and posed inconvenience to commuters and local residents.

Adequate police deployment was ensured to maintain law and order during the operation. The drive was carried out in a planned manner to prevent any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed to individuals who have illegally occupied government land to voluntarily remove all unauthorized structures. Officials warned that strict legal action will be initiated against those who fail to comply with the directives.

The administration further informed that anti-encroachment drives will continue across the district with full intensity in the coming days to safeguard public property and maintain transparency in land management.
