Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in separate operations in Pulwama and Shopian districts and also seized substantial quantities of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that a police party of Police Station Litter during naka checking intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK13J-1331 and recovered about 750 grams of a charas powder-like substance. The driver, Mudasir Ahmad Malik, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized. In a separate action Police Station Pulwama apprehended drug peddler Farooq Ahmad Mir, who was found in possession of about 137.5 grams of a heroin-like substance. Additionally, in Shopian, police while acting on specific inputs raided the residence of one Bashir Ahmad Dar and seized 1.880 kilograms of charas and 8.570 kilograms of a cannabis-like substance. The accused was arrested, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act, with further investigations underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to combat drug-related issues in society and appealed people to cooperate in reporting drug peddling activities to facilitate strict legal action against offenders.
