Srinagar : Police in Ganderbal on Tuesday successfully secured the Conviction of an accused under Section 355 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) from the Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (JMIC), Kangan.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that Amir Ahmad Beigh, a resident of Thune, Kangan, was found guilty of attempting to disrupt public peace while intoxicated. In a reformative approach, the court sentenced him to seven days of community service at an institution under the Social Welfare Department in Ganderbal. The case was prosecuted by Ilyas Khawaja. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to maintain public order and peace in the district, warning therein that strict legal action will be taken against anyone engaging in activities that threaten communal harmony or public tranquillity.
