Reasi: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik Tuesday chaired a review meeting to finalise arrangements for the upcoming holy month of Ramzan to ensure smooth and hassle-free observance across the district.
The meeting focused on establishing robust arrangements regarding security, uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, healthcare, fire and emergency response, traffic regulation and market monitoring in view of Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Emphasising the importance of uninterrupted power supply during Sehri and Iftar hours, the Deputy Commissioner directed JPDCL officials to maintain a proper schedule and ensure prompt redressal of faults. The Jal Shakti Department was instructed to ensure adequate drinking water supply in all urban and rural areas, with water tankers kept on standby to meet emergency requirements.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Health Department to ensure the availability of ambulances and the deployment of medical staff at strategic locations on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. Fire and Emergency Services were asked to remain on high alert, particularly in sensitive and densely populated areas, to respond swiftly to any untoward incident. She also stressed maintaining high standards of sanitation, especially in market areas and around mosques, directing Municipal authorities to intensify cleanliness drives.
To safeguard consumer interests, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the constitution of joint inspection teams comprising officers from Revenue, Food Safety, FCSCA, Legal Metrology and Police departments. These teams shall conduct regular market inspections to check the quality of food items, prevent overpricing and ensure the availability of essential commodities at regulated rates. Executive Officers of Municipal Committees Katra and Reasi were specifically directed to ensure proper sanitation and waste management in their respective jurisdictions.
Highlighting the need for effective traffic and parking management, she instructed the concerned departments to deploy adequate personnel to regulate vehicular movement and avoid congestion during peak hours, particularly around major markets and religious places.
The Deputy Commissioner called for close inter-departmental coordination and directed all officers to remain vigilant and responsive to public grievances to ensure the peaceful and smooth observance of Ramzan.
Among others, ADC Reasi Rakesh Kumar, Dy. SP (HQ) Vishal Jamwal, Tehsildar Pouni, Tehsildar Bhomag and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
