Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has successfully seized a consignment of illicit Timber in Baramulla.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said on receiving credible inputs about illegal timber smuggling in the Goigam area a team was deputed to investigate the matter. During search operation the team seized illegal forest timber including 38 window frames, three planks measuring 5 × 5 inches, and four planks measuring 1½ × 5 inches. The timber was found in the possession of Khurshheed Ahmad Khan, a resident of Goigam. Following the operation police registered a case under FIR (No. 13/2026) at the Kunzer Police Station under relevant legal sections besides initiating an investigation into the matter. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to take strict action against individuals involved in timber smuggling and other illegal activities.
