Reasi:  Under the leadership of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi Khalil Choudhary and the guidance of Secretary DLSA Reasi Pooja Gupta, an awareness programme on the Right to Education was conducted Saturday. Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Katra organised the event at Government Girls Middle School Karua, Katra. PLVs highlighted important aspects of the Right to Education scheme and informed the public about free legal aid and services.

PLVs of DLSA Reasi carried out another awareness programme on the theme “Say No to Drugs” Saturday at the Bus Stand Reasi and various other locations. The programme aimed to sensitise the general public, especially the youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the serious social, psychological and legal consequences associated with substance addiction. During the drive, PLVs interacted with commuters, shopkeepers, drivers and local residents to disseminate information regarding the ill effects of drugs and the importance of adopting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Additionally, a chess competition was organised Saturday at Sub Jail Reasi. The competition was held in the presence of ALADCs Nomni Sharma and Rishav Sharma, who interacted with the inmates and motivated them to participate in healthy activities. They emphasised the importance of discipline, positive thinking and constructive utilisation of time during their stay.

Another awareness programme on the observance of traffic rules was successfully carried out by PLVs of TLSC Mahore at DewalMahoreSaturday.

The programme aimed to sensitise the general public, drivers and youth about the importance of following traffic regulations to ensure road safety and prevent accidents.

The PLVs educated participants about the mandatory use of helmets and seatbelts, dangers of over-speeding, risks of drunken driving, hazards of using mobile phones while driving and the importance of carrying valid driving documents.

Concurrently, PLVs of DLSA Reasi conducted an awareness programme on “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” and “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” Saturday at Allya, Pouni.

During the programme, the PLVs sensitised participants about legal provisions related to the prohibition of child marriage, the rights of children and the social, psychological and health consequences of early marriage.
